About TED

TED is a non-profit organization whose mission is to spread valuable ideas around the world. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design: it is a non-profit organization with the purpose of sharing “ideas worth spreading” where the world’s leading players in “thinking” and “doing” are invited to talk about their ideas in talks of up to 18 minutes. Their talks are later made available for free online to inspire as many people as possible! TED started as a conference in California in the 1980s, and today has grown in its ‘mission’ through multiple initiatives to support ideas that can change the world for the better.

About TEDX

In the TED spirit of sharing valuable ideas, TEDx is a programme of local events, independently organized but with the same mission of bringing people together in experiences of entertainment, growth and sharing. The TEDx project, set up in the spirit of sharing ‘ideas worth spreading’, local communities -independently- aim to provide an experience similar to that of attending a TED conference. At TEDx events, live talks, artistic performances and screenings of videos from the TEDTalks are combined to stimulate dialogue between participants and foster relationships within the small group.

FAQ

What is TEDx and how is it different from TED?

TEDx is a locally organized event licensed by TED. It follows the same spirit of “ideas worth spreading,” but is independently organized by our university team for our community.

When and where will the event take place?

TEDx will take place on 25th November at the Prague University of Economics and Business, Žižkov campus. We are starting at 4:30 pm.

How can I get a ticket or register?

Tickets went on sale on October 1st at 08:00 via the GoOut platform.

Students and staff received an e-mail with the opportunity to claim one of 100 free tickets. The interest was overwhelming, and we are very grateful for it. Those who managed to secure one of the free tickets have already received a confirmation e-mail.

Rector, Pro-rectors, deans, and the Board of Trustees all had their entry guaranteed free of charge as a thank-you for their support, which made it possible for TEDx to take place at VŠE in the first place.

I’m a student or staff member at VŠE – do I have a chance to attend TEDx for free?

You had the chance to claim one of 100 free tickets, and the interest was incredible – thousands of people signed up, and we are truly grateful for it! If you were among the lucky ones, you have already received a confirmation e-mail – congratulations, and we look forward to seeing you.
